Color Selection Dialog

PicSwitcher includes a proprietary color selection dialog box.  Here's an example:

When it comes time to select a color for a background, border, or whatever else, start by selecting your "Color Selection Mode." The possible modes include: Hue, Saturation, Lightness, Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.  Changing the mode changes the color bar just below the mode selection option, showing the range of values for the current mode.  Click anywhere in this area (or drag the slider if you wish) to select the desired value.

Changing this base value changes the larger selection area, showing the full range of colors that may be selected with the value selected for the main selection value.  Click anywhere in this larger area, or drag the circular color indicator.

If you wish to select a color using the raw numbers rather than using the mouse, you can make the changes in the values in the text boxes provided.

When a color is selected, PicSwitcher will automatically create color schemes that compliment your selected color well.  You will find these in the lower right corner of the window.  You may notice that the colors are grouped: the first group contains two colors, the second contains three colors, and so on.  We recommend sticking with colors within the same group for the best results.

Also in this section of the window is a collection of standard colors, grayscales, and the colors you have selected recently.  Click on any of these values to make it the current color.

Last of all, you can select a color directly from the current source image.  Clicking on the image will select the color immediately under the cursor.  If you wish to sample a larger area of the image, select the size of that area under "Sample Size" before clicking on the image.  To scroll the image, grab and drag it with the right mouse button.

Once the color you wish to use is selected, click the OK button.
